The glass beaker is the worst part of a French press. It cracks in the washing-up bowl, it loses heat while you're still on the first cup, and replacing it costs nearly as much as the press did.

This one is double-walled steel. No glass beaker to crack in the sink.

  • Double-wall insulated — holds temperature
  • Stainless mesh plunger
  • Steel body — no glass beaker

Plunge, then pour it out

When the brew time is up, plunge — then pour the whole pot out. Into your mug, or into a carafe if you're not drinking it all at once.

Coffee left sitting on the grounds carries on extracting. That's why a second cup poured straight from the press often tastes harsher than the first, and it's just as true in an insulated press as a glass one — keeping the pot hot keeps it brewing. Decanting stops that.

A different cup from pour-over

Full immersion with a metal filter lets the oils through: heavier body, a little sediment at the bottom. If you like a clean, tea-like filter coffee, this isn't the brewer for you.

Questions

What grind?
Coarse. Fine grounds slip past the mesh and turn the cup muddy.

How long do I brew it?
Four minutes is the usual starting point. Then plunge and pour it out — see above.

Can I see the coffee brewing?
No — that's the trade for the steel body. Brew to the clock instead.

Does it work for loose leaf tea?
Yes. Same mechanism: coarse leaf, plunge, pour.
